DIY Camper on Midsize Truck

My wife Pam & I built this truck camper back in 2010.  We've driven it over 71,000 miles since , covering many National Parks in the 48 lower United States plus the Canadian Maritimes and Canadian Rockies. We love being able to go anywhere and see anything while having comforts of home with us all the time!

We decided to build this because none of the commercially available campers for our truck, an '04 GMC Canyon, were fully self-contained with adequate amenities.  Despite the proliferation of "mid size" trucks (Tacoma, Canyon/Colorado, Ranger...) that is still mostly true today. I hope this website inspires others to take the plunge, build their own truck camper, and see our beautiful country with the freedom and enjoyment we've experienced!

Our home page starts with 2 "stories" written for our daughter: one about building the camper and the second chronicling a  6,500 mile cross country trip. There's also a presentation with lots of build pics.  A separate page contains videos about living very comfortably in our small camper.   Click a button at right (desktop) or bottom (mobile) to view any of these!

I would be happy to share design/build insights on any system or topic - just fill out the contact form below. Future posts will be based on your responses or questions!
